Content

Crop harvest products are utilised as food, feed and in the non-food sector. The quality of harvest products (e.g. chemical composition, physical properties, processing quality etc.) is affected by agronomy, cultivar and environmental conditons. Quality features are important in marketing and utilisation of crop products. In the context of reducing emissions from the agro-food sector to stop global warming, the quality of plant-based foods is a key factor (concentration of individual components, nutritional value, consumer acceptance, food safety etc.) for a sustainable transformation of the future food sector.

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

Students are able to explain the most relevant crop quality features with respect to processing and utilisation.

Students can analyze the complex of product quality, can dissect product quality into particular parameters, can link product quality to agronomy, plant breding, environment conditions.

Students are capable of collecting quality-related information, they can evaulate quality related information, they can communicate quality matters to peers in the field.

Students are able to access specific information, to process information, and to present specific knowledge to others.
