Content

1) The course begins with a joint kick-off event during which the supervisors provide brief introductory statements on their respective subject areas.
2) As part of (1), mini-projects are presented.
3) As part of (1), group formation takes place.
4) The subsequent work phase (research, interviews, data collection, experiments, fieldwork, etc.) and the writing of a report are carried out by the group in a self-coordinated and self-organised manner. Regular meetings with the supervisor are planned.

The course takes the form of independent student group work, conducted in a problem-oriented manner. Students independently address topics from both the core and broader context of forestry through a division of labour. The aim is to provide as comprehensive an understanding of the problem area as possible.

Students are able to write a report that meets scientific criteria and deliver a professional presentation to an informed audience. They are able to justify the methods used in a scientific discourse and to substantiate their hypotheses with the results/findings obtained. Students can work together in a team with several members, divide a task into individual work packages, and finalize these on schedule.
