This course provides a comprehensive overview of the entire value chain of wood and renewable raw materials, from forest resources to market. It addresses the global importance of forests, particularly their role as carbon sinks, as well as forest transformation driven by climate change.
The course explores key wood technology topics such as wood and fiber quality, processing steps from log to final product, the role of the paper industry, and the utilization of alternative renewable raw materials. In addition, markets, certification systems, and material flow-based approaches are discussed to emphasize the role of wood as a sustainable and future-oriented material.
