Content

The course will be conducted in collaboration with CTU Prague and takes place as part of a one-week trip to/at CTU Prague (Czech Republic). During the block course, a GIS-based erosion model for a catchment will be developed in small student groups. Spatial GIS operations and the basics of the Universal Soil Loss Equation (USLE) will be applied. The goal is to create realistic scenarios, calculate erosion rates, and identify "hot spots" in the landscape. This enables a thorough analysis of erosion dynamics and provides valuable insights for the sustainable management of the catchment area.

Previous knowledge expected

Basic hydrological and GIS skills desirable.

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

• Knowledge and understanding of the simulation of surface runoff and soil erosion.
• Developing and applying simulation model for specific erosion-related problems.
• Planning soil conservation measures, evaluating their effectiveness, and making informed decisions.
