The desire to be independent while simultaneously taking responsibility creates a field of tension—one we aim to explore in this Philosophicum. Both individual and societal dynamics provide fertile ground for applying and reflecting on these concepts.
Autonomy can mean acting on one's own responsibility, living an autonomous lifestyle, or not being dependent on anything. The term is used in various societal contexts—such as autonomous societies, autonomous states, or autonomous institutions (both private and public).
Similarly, the concept of responsibility appears in personal and social spheres as a guiding principle for decision-making and the changes that follow.
Starting from the various definitions and uses of these terms, the seminar will first examine their personal relevance and impact in everyday life. Additional fields of application may include ecological topics such as organic agriculture, bioenergy, molecular biology, biodiversity, climate, peace, or the university itself. Alongside these, which may be introduced by students, Artificial Intelligence will also provide a rich field for reflection.

The seminar is based on both historical and contemporary texts that will be critically discussed. Questions will be developed using a Socratic method and will serve as a guide for our discourse. One of the core philosophical questions—"What makes sense?"—will serve as a framework for our discussions.
Whenever possible, guest discussants will be invited to the seminar, or external sites that represent autonomous and responsibility-related phenomena (e.g. exhibitions) will be visited as reflective spaces.
