Content

In this course, students learn the basics of designing foundations for circular and sustainable structures based on the previously learnt basics of materials, structural engineering, structural analysis and construction - beam structures - The structural applications of reinforced concrete as a building material are covered in detail.
In addition to the basics and modelling, the design of foundations is also taught.
The individual chapters are supplemented in parallel by practical exercises and concrete tasks from structural engineering are worked out statically and constructively with regard to foundations by means of project submissions

Previous knowledge expected

- All contents of the courses mechanics, materials science, structural analysis and strength of materials, technical plan drawing with CAD, construction of beam structures - the basics of these subjects can no longer be covered in the course.
- System idealisation
- Determination of internal forces on statically determinate systems
- Determination of internal forces on statically indeterminate systems
- Creation of standardised plans
- General design of reinforced concrete components

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

The aim is to understand and apply design concepts and structural designs for shallow foundations made of reinforced concrete. After completing the project and successfully passing the examinations, students will be able to independently calculate and design foundations for construction projects and construct them in a climate-friendly and recyclable manner.
