Together with the “Applied Microbiology Exercises,” these exercises are part of the “Applied Microbiology” module for the LBT bachelor's program (H217).
In the “Bioprocess Engineering Exercises,” a technically relevant protein is produced by fermentation with a recombinant E. coli strain and then quantified using ELISA.
The exercises represent essential parts of a practical biotechnological production process and thus constitute a fundamental educational step for the subsequent master's programs.
- Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)
-
After completing the course, the students are able to carry out a simple yet multi-layered biotechnological production process. They master the interdisciplinary techniques of the aseptic operation of a lab-scale fermenter over several days, the necessary bioprocess engineering calculations and the performance of an ELISA test for the quantitative determination of biotechnologically produced products.
The students are also able to carefully and completely document all experiments as required in future professional fields of activity.
You can find more details like the schedule or information about exams on the course-page in BOKUonline.
