Content

The compulsory work placement comprises at least 140 working hours and is ideally completed between the 2nd and 3rd or 4th and 5th semesters. The internship can be completed in agricultural businesses, companies in the upstream and downstream agricultural sector, interest groups or similar organisations. The organisational structures of these potential practical placements are discussed in the seminar in order to give students a better understanding of the working environment.

The internship seminar accompanies the compulsory internship in the Bachelor's degree programme in Agricultural Sciences and offers a platform for the exchange of practical experience and the critical examination of the content learnt during the course. After completing their practical work, students present their experiences in the form of a short presentation. In addition, students write a written report that includes a description of the farm, the region, the activities carried out and a reflection on the knowledge gained and how it relates to the degree programme.

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

The compulsory internship serves to expand and deepen the knowledge and skills acquired in the Bachelor's degree programme in Agricultural Sciences. It includes tasks in the areas of agricultural production, research and development. Graduates of the module are familiar with work areas and work processes on farms and in specialist companies and organisations. They are able to reflect on their experiences and what they have learnt during their work placement on the basis of the content and focus of their degree course. Through the exchange of experiences with other students, they have gained an insight into the diversity of activities in the agricultural sector and can identify, name, list and describe fields of activity and areas of responsibility. Graduates of the module recognise and understand the interrelationships of agricultural production and understand the basics of general management and the procurement of information for farm management. They are able to differentiate, compare and scrutinise production and business management strategies.
