Students acquire in-depth knowledge about the acquisition of different geodata for environmental issues. This includes the search for and processing of remote sensing data (satellite images, orthophotos), own data acquisition using GNSS in the field, as well as the digitisation and editing of geodata on the basis of background maps in GIS. The topic of ‘Coordinate systems and transformations’ is also covered.
- Previous knowledge expected

Attendance of the course “Remote Sensing and Geoinformation Systems” or similar courses in these subject areas. The freely available software QGIS will be used. Detailed knowledge of QGIS is not required, but basic knowledge of GIS (ArcGIS or QGIS) is necessary. An introduction to the software or a refresher course will be provided as part of the course.
