The course imparts specialised knowledge about the working methods of plant protection in practice and science. Selected assessment methods in plant protection are taught as a basis for decisions on plant protection measures. Furthermore, methods for diagnosing and determining the causes of damage in arable, fruit, wine and vegetable cultivation are practised.
- Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

Students can systematically analyse damage to plants and differentiate between animal, microbial and abiotic damage factors. Students can use identification literature/specialised literature to identify the causes of damage. They can also apply basic scientific assessment methods to determine infestation.
Students acquire methodological skills to collect, evaluate and interpret data relevant to plant protection. In addition, they will be able to explain plant protection problems in different farming systems and agricultural areas and categorise their significance in practice. They are able to assess the effectiveness of plant protection measures.
