The lecture series provides an insight into the current areas of work at BOKU, addressing the moral and ethical challenges that cannot be overcome based on specific technical knowledge alone. This is achieved by providing concrete examples from BOKU's current practice. Students are made aware of ethically relevant borderline cases in science. At the same time, fundamental questions of scientific responsibility are addressed together.
- Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)
-
Students will gain an understanding of the necessity and potential of ethical reflection, particularly in the context of scientific and technological development. Upon successfully completing the module, students will be familiar with the various areas of work at BOKU where ethical issues and challenges arise in research and practice. Using examples, they will also be able to differentiate between and evaluate various approaches to dealing with these questions.
