Students are able to define and describe in their own words the terms “heat”, “heat flow”, “power”, “exergy”, “anergy”, “efficiency”, “coefficient of performance (COP)”, and “Carnot efficiency”.
Students are able to derive the fundamental laws of thermodynamics as well as the governing limiting equations and apply them to building services engineering systems.
Students are able to outline the most important technologies for heat and cold generation in building services engineering. They are able to compare and evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of these technologies.
Students are able to derive relevant key performance indicators for describing technical systems in building services engineering as well as their efficiency from a technical, energetic, and environmental perspective.
Students are able to assess basic techno-economic aspects of different heating and cooling systems.
Students are able to calculate system and efficiency parameters of heating and cooling systems using practical examples.
Students are able to conceptually design such systems and assess related technical offers for plausibility.
