Guest lecture
This lecture provides an overview on plant biomechanics pointing out biomimetic aspects. The understanding of structure-function relationships in plants forms the basis for transferring biological concepts for optimization and adaption into technical applications in the sense of biomimetics. Overview of topics:
- Biomechanics of plants
- Structure and function
- Adaptive growth
- Movement of plants
- Plants as concept generators for materials
A basic knowledge in botany and mechanics is helpful but not required. Please see http://online.boku.ac.at/ (Course 891.002) for more information https://online.boku.ac.at/BOKUonline/lv.detail?clvnr=261335&sprache=2
