Memorandum of Understanding
CDR and University of Nairobi intensify their cooperation
The Centre for Development Research (CDR) at BOKU and the University of Nairobi (UoN) formally acknowledge their fruitful cooperation in the fields of academic training, research, capacity building, and institutional development. To enable both partners to trigger joint initiatives, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was reached. The MoU will be signed by Dr. Michael Hauser, Director of the Centre for Development Research and Prof. George O. Magoha, Vice Chancellor of the University of Nairobi.
So far, CDR-BOKU and UoN have collaborated mainly to facilitate the yearly International Training Course on Organic Agriculture – a training for future “agents of change” towards sustainable agriculture. The training takes place in Uganda, and both BOKU and UoN students participate.
In the future, both parties wish to further their collaboration in the fields of:
- Development and implementation of excellent academic training in the field of applied development research in the field of natural resource management.
- Consideration of the joint development of proposals to seek grants to fund collaborative research and training.
- Encouragement, facilitation and support of capacity building of staff and the institutional development at both Parties, with a focus on innovation systems thinking and participatory methods.
