In March 2007, BOKU starts a new research initiative: Doctoral candidates have the chance to participate in the transdisciplinary Doctoral School Sustainable Development, where they will get an excellent training within an inter- and transdisciplinary research environment. The core faculty of eleven BOKU-scientists guarantees intensive supervision conditions and an exciting interdisciplinary doctoral programme. The doctoral school is open for graduates of diverse fields of study, the research issues are meant to attract not only BOKU-students but also social scientists and students of technical or planning sciences. The project is supported by the BOKU, the Austrian Federal Ministry for Education, Science and Culture, the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management, the Provincial Governments Lower Austria and Styria and the City Government Vienna.
