wins High-tech award in this years ‘GEWINN’ young entrepreneur competition

TAmiRNA GmbH, a BOKU spin-off, has been awarded the 1st prize in the category “high-tech”  and 2nd prize in the general category in the annual 2015 GEWINN Jungunternehmer Award. The award ceremony of the 26th annual GEWINN-Jungunternehmer Award competition took place on 10 November 2015 and was carried out under the aegis of vice chancellor Dr. Reinhold Mitterlehner and secretary of state for the environment DI Andrä Rupprechter as well as the main sponsors UniCredit Bank Austria and Hutchison Drei Austria GmbH. Out of the approximately 1.000 applicants in this years competition, TAmiRNA GmbH was awarded the 1st prize in the special category “High-tech” and the 2nd prize in the overall ranking. Founded in 2013 by Matthias Hackl (CEO), Regina and Johannes Grillari and Otto Kanzler (CFO), TAmiRNA is focusing on the development of novel, blood-based diagnostic solutions for a variety of diseases. The first product will be a test intended to predict fracture risk more accurately than currently used methods. The aim is to identify high-risk patients at an earlier time point, thus enabling preventive therapy and reducing the incidence of painful and expensive osteoporotic fractures. Together with partner institutions and customers, TAmiRNA is also actively involved in diverse biomarker development programs, such as the monitoring of the therapeutic effect of therapy in patients suffering from brain tumors.
