Marion Brunner and Johanna Irrgeher received the award for "best presentations of emerging scientists" at the 22nd ICP-MS User Meeting 2010 in Berlin.

Marion Brunner and Johanna Irrgeher (PhD students at the VIRIS laboratory (head: Thomas Prohaska)) of the Division of Analytical Chemistry/Department of Chemistry (BOKU Vienna) received the award for ‚best presentations of emerging scientists’ at the 22nd ICP-MS User Meeting 2010 in Berlin. The award - the participation at the Plasma Winter Conference 2011 in Zaragoza - was sponsored by the company AHF Analysentechnik. (http://www.ahf.de/impressum.html) Marion Brunner presented the results of the international research Project ‘IsoGeoCoffee’ focusing on the proof of provenance of coffee beans by using elemental and isotopic fingerprints. The method is applied at the VIRIS laboratory for food authentication. Johanna Irrgeher presented results obtained in the field of migration research by using strontium isotope ratios on the example of a medieval settlement in Gars/Thunau (Austria). Migration research using chemical methods is one of the successful collaboration projects with the Division of Anthropology (head: Maria Teschler-Nicola) of the Museum of Natural History.
