Poster Awards at International Wood Chemistry Symposium for BOKU Researchers


At the 22nd International Symposium on Wood, Fiber and Pulping Chemistry in Raleigh, USA, two BOKU researchers were honored: Margaritha Ritscher received the 1st poster prize, and Stefan Grasböck achieved 2nd place.

The 22nd International Symposium on Wood, Fiber and Pulping Chemistry was held from June 2–6, 2025, in Raleigh, North Carolina, bringing together leading scientists from around the globe. BOKU researchers from the Institute of Chemistry of Renewable Resources were awarded two poster prizes: Margaritha Ritscher (Institute of Chemistry of Renewable Resources) won 1st prize for her poster “Simple and fast analysis of Lignin and Hemicelluloses in Kraft Black Liquor”. 2nd place was awarded to Stefan Grasböck for his work “Waste wood utilisation yielding modified, protected and purified lignin”. Both contributions advance sustainable wood utilization and the development of innovative methods in lignin research.
