Broadband Station RONA of the Austrian Seismic Service
To register earthquakes and other tremors within and outside of Austria, the Austrian Seismic Service of Geosphere Austria (ZAMG) operates a seismic monitoring network.
The monitoring network is integrated into the global seismic network to enable quick and reliable detection of earthquakes worldwide.
In 2016, the Austrian earthquake monitoring network of the Central Institute for Meteorology and Geodynamics was expanded with the addition of the Rosalia station (RONA).
Overview of the RONA Station
The two installed seismic sensors (Streckeisen STS-2.5 and Kinemetrics Episensor) are housed in a dedicated aluminum box to protect them from external influences.
The sensors can detect ground movements as small as 1 nm, while the Episensor measures accelerations of up to 1 g.
The analog measurements are then digitized and transmitted live to the data center in Vienna.
