6th International Women’s Conference 2027

Women in Rural Areas
Life. Work. Power?

Platform for dialogue and networking
at BOKU University, Vienna, February 24–26, 2027

In 2027, the International Women’s Conference will be held for the 6th time. It offers a platform for exchange between practitioners, scientists, students as well as representatives from administration and politics. The focus is on the living and working realities of women in rural areas. All those interested in the daily realities, perspectives and stories of women in rural areas — and who wishes to contribute or learn more — are warmly invited to participate.

The focus is on how women help shape the social-ecological transformation in the following thematic area:

  • Work & everyday life: employment and care work (mental load) as well as mobility and digital participation.
  • Diversity & sustainability: particularly migration and social inclusion.
  • Leadership & participation: political participation and leadership roles.

To open the view beyond the German-speaking region, contributions in English are planned for each day. Plenary lectures and thematic sessions offer many opportunities to get to know inspiring role models, best practice examples, and innovative approaches. Additionally, presentation spaces provide room for individuals, organizations and networks to present their approaches, products, and ideas. The focus is on the engagement of women in rural areas. The conference promotes exchange, makes diversity visible and strengthens new forms of networking.
