This course is addressed to administrative and scientific staff who use English in their working lives and would like to improve their communication skills and vocabulary.

Objectives:

Gain confidence in speaking and general communication skills
Expand your vocabulary
Avoiding common and typical mistakes
Improving fluency and pronunciation
Learning how to approach given tasks (instructions, processes, emails, letters, presentations, etc.)

Content:

Improve communication skills and vocabulary
Support verbal and written expression through listening and writing exercises as well as verbal summaries
Paraphrasing texts
Practising improvisation in relation to communication and presentation
Review common mistakes through appropriate exercises

Methods:

Learning by doing - practice in context - through task-related exercises, joint communication, discussions in groups, paraphrasing and improvisation

Group size: max. 12 participants

The workshop will take place online via ZOOM.

Cristina Flinter B.A.
After completing a B.A. in Economics in the USA, Cristina Flitner gained her first experience as an English teacher during her studies at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera in Milan. She later taught English at summer schools in Spa in Belgium and Canterbury in England. She has also worked as an English lecturer at the UNO, the BFI and the Technikum in Vienna. She currently teaches at various institutions, including BOKU University, and therefore has a wide range of teaching experience in the areas of business English, English for BOKU specific topics, scientific writing and presentation as well as intercultural communication, but also has professional experience in proofreading scientific texts.
