Outreach

International doctoral candidates are explicitly invited to join HR21. The training language is English and several participating institutes also provide an international working environment. The research is performed in different regions throughout the world and high end facilities are available at all participating institutes.

Admission Criteria

In general, admission criteria follow the curriculum for doctoral studies in the BOKU Doctoral Schools. An additional agreement with items specific to HR21 is to be signed by the doctoral candidate, the supervisor and the coordinator of the doctoral school.

Candidates

Candidates should hold a Msc or equivalent degree in natural sciences, or social sciences, or engineering, from internationally renowned institutions of higher education in any of the research fields of the Doctoral School.

Depending on the research field graduates of HR21 are conferred either the degree of Doctor of Natural Resources and Life Sciences ("Doktor/in der Bodenkultur"), in Latin "Doctor rerum naturalium technicarum" (abbreviated as "Dr.nat.techn.") or Doctor of Social and Economic Sciences ("Doktor/in der Sozial- und Wirtschaftswissenschaften"), in Latin Doctor rerum socialium oeconomicarumque (abbreviated as "Dr.rer.soc.oec.").
