Information and Counselling
The Coordination Office offers advice on the following topics to prospective students, students, and employees with disabilities, chronic illnesses, or mental health issues:
- Support and information on all study-related issues related to disabilities and/or chronic illnesses
- Individual support with organizing studies
- Advice on financial support options
- Legal framework conditions
- Orientation assistance at the beginning of studies
- Organization of technical and/or personal assistance
- Cooperation with the rectorate, interest groups, teachers, and affected parties to create improved learning, working, and examination conditions for the target group
How does the Coordination Office provide support?
- Support options offered by the Coordination Office:
- Advice on the provision of accessible teaching/learning materials (e.g., digitization of scripts, conversion of special literature into Braille, printouts in Braille, etc.)
- Organization of speech-to-text interpreters or Austrian Sign Language interpreters (organized by the GESTU service center)
- Assistance in finding suitable assistants who can support those affected during exams or practical exercises, such as writing assistance or assistance with laboratory work (e.g., for students with fine motor impairments)
- Assistance in organizing accessible and/or separate examination rooms
- Advice and support in applying for alternative examination methods in advance due to study-related impairments of students
- Provision of mobile FM systems (from the rental pool of the BOKU-IT media center) for hearing-impaired students
- Networking with and referral to other competence and service centers (psychological counseling centers, ÖH BOKU, GESTU, etc.)
The counseling center provides advice and support for: › Problems, conflicts, and crises in both your everyday student life and your private life, Difficulties in working with fellow students or teachers › Insecurities and fears (e.g., exam anxiety, phobias, etc.)
The counseling sessions are free of charge, confidential, and anonymous.

The ÖH BOKU departments and the student ombudsman's office also provide advice on questions relating to your studies.
In addition, students with disabilities have the opportunity to apply for financial support, such as the ÖH BOKU support fund, increased family allowance (the responsible authority is the tax office), training allowance (Social Ministry Service), study allowance (Study Allowance Authority), Erasmus+ special grant, etc. It is possible to take a leave of absence due to circumstances that demonstrably hinder study progress.
