!!! The basic prerequisite for admission to the Trusted Advisor Program is the approval of the manager as well as the willingness and motivation to carry out this activity under the specified framework conditions (see code of conduct in the application documents, e.g. max. 6 hours per month, no overtime). In addition, the distribution across the departments and organizational units is taken into account in the selection process and the following skills are required:

  • Ability to reflect - own needs, communication patterns and behaviors are known and aware of their influence on other people.
  • Empathy - feelings, thoughts and motives of other people can be recognized and empathized with
  • Solution orientation - when faced with problems, you can think about the target state and how to get there
  • Resilience - resources can be used to reduce (emotional) stress and enable recovery
  • Confidentiality - information must be kept to oneself, even if passing it on would benefit oneself or others
  • Motivation - Adequate motivation to act as a Trusted Advisor is present as well as the willingness to behave in accordance with the understanding of the role

Training dates, contents

These mandatory seminars will take place together with colleagues from the Alpen Adria University Klagenfurt (AAU) on

April 17, 2024, 10:30-15:30 at the AAU
May 14, 2024, 09:00-15:00 online, Zoom
June 5, 2024, 10:30-17:30 at the BOKU, Türkenschanze, SR 30 (EXNH-DG/46)
will take place.

The training is divided into two modules:

Module 1: Basics I + II (17.04.2024 & 05.06.2024)

Health, resilience, stress, mental disorders
Support services within/outside the university
Conflict dynamics, escalation stages

Module 2: Behavior (14.05.2024)

Understanding roles, boundaries, confidentiality, reflection
Conversation management: listening, validating, recognizing problems

In addition, there is regular support through e.g. keynote speeches on current topics or an exchange platform.
