Interaction of selected microorganisms within the rhizosphere of legumes and maize

Summary

Selected Rhizobium and Pseudomonas bacteria are able to colonize simultaneously different regions of the rhizosphere of lucerne and pea after seed coinoculation. The intensity of colonization decreased during the experiment which lasted seven weeks. Within a period of 1-7 weeks inoculated Pseudomonasfluorescens (PsIA12) and Rhizobium trifolii (R39) did not cause significant change in the rhizosphere colonization of Pseudomonas spp., Bacillus spp. and Streptomyces spp. on peas, lucerne and maize on loamy sand and sandy loam. Agrobacterium spp. and Xanthomonas spp. on maize were partly stimulated and the colonization of fungi (Fusarium spp., Verticillium spp., Mucorspp.) was reduced. Shoot growth of pea, lucerne and maize was stimulated by 10-20 %. Key words: rhizosphere microorganisms, legumes, maize, microorganism interactions.
