ITSG

IT Service Group

What is the IT Service Group?

The IT Service Group (ITSG for short) is an organizational subunit of BOKU-IT that can centrally manage all IT matters for BOKU's organizational units (OrgEHs). Participation is voluntary, and the OrgEHs conclude their own service agreements with BOKU-IT for the provision of services with the aim of improving IT support at the individual locations.

As of spring 2024, the IT Service Group consists of 13 people who support 38 institutes and service facilities at BOKU. Some of these individuals were previously responsible for IT and saw the move to the ITSG as a positive step and made the transition. Others are provided by the Rectorate as additional human resources. We are constantly working to grow our team so that we can include additional OrgEHs in our support on a voluntary basis in the future.

Benefits for the organizational units

  • Competence
A team with defined competencies that each individual member possesses, coupled with the specializations of individual persons in various specialist areas. New team members benefit from the well-established structure and existing knowledge.
  • Reliability
We support our customers as a team during IT helpdesk hours. You do not need to find or plan for replacements in the event of sick leave or vacations.
  • Knowledge advantage
Regular team meetings give ITSG a knowledge advantage over individual IT departments. This means that any problems that arise can be resolved more quickly, even if they affect a larger area.
