SICRIT ionization is based on a ring-shaped cold plasma directly coupled to the mass spectrometer inlet, ionizing gas phase molecules drawn through the ion source into the MS, enabling efficient, soft ionization with minimal fragmentation. The source uses a plug-and-play design, allowing easy installation and quick exchange with our conventional ESI source. SICRIT covers a broad range of chemical space, ionizing analytes from polar to non-polar, complementing capabilities of electrospray ionization.
Its modular design allows different chromatographic and sample-introduction techniques to be coupled with typical LC-MS instruments. The GC/SPME module supports analysis of liquid, solid, and gaseous samples, direct analysis of SPME fibers, and coupling to a GC system through a heated transfer line. The LC module enables liquid chromatography coupling to SICRIT. As a gas phase source, SICRIT enables ambient MS and therefore odor analysis is possible.
We can connect the SICRIT source to our two Orbitrap systems, enabling GC-SICRIT-HRMS analysis.
