The wide-ranging research areas of BOKU demand a huge variety of instrumentation and (large) equipment that can be accessed in the most convenient and economically efficient way via the BOKU Core Facilities. BOKU developed strong expertise in different fields of research. We are convinced that centering this profound knowledge and providing it to academia as well as industry can perfectly support scientists on their way to ground-breaking findings and discoveries.

Core Facility Biomolecular & Cellular Analysis

The BOKU Core Facility Biomolecular & Cellular Analysis (BmCA) is a state-of-the-art analytical laboratory with focus on biomolecular characterization and characterization of biomolecular interactions, protein crystallography as well as flow cytometry.

Core Facility Food & Bio Processing

The BOKU Core Facility Food & Bio Processing offers research and development services related to process design, pilot-scale sample production as well as product quality and microbiological analyses of food and bio-based materials.

Core Facility Multiscale Imaging

Equipped with various light microscopes: confocal, wide-field, TIRF, laser micro-dissection, Raman chemical mapping, the BOKU Core Facility Multiscale Imaging offers access to fluorescence-based and label-free imaging techniques to the whole research community of Vienna.

Core Facility BioIndustrial Pilot Plant

The BOKU Core Facility BioIndustrial Pilot Plant provides expertise in fermentation technology, downstream processing and related analytics of biomolecules in a multi-purpose GMP-like facility and offers education and training courses in this field.

Core Facility Mass Spectrometry

The BOKU Core Facility Mass Spectrometry (CFMS) provides high-end separation science and mass spectrometry for proteomics, glycomics, metabolomics as well as elemental and isotopic analysis in life, environmental and food sciences.

Core Facility Analysis of Lignocellulosics

The International Core Facility Analysis of Lignocellulosics (ALICE) with its twin lab at Abo Akademi University Turku, Finland, offers method development and state-of-the-art chromatographic, spectroscopic and chemical analysis for the advanced characterization of lignocellulose and biorefinery products.

Core Facility Bioinformatics

The BOKU Core Facility Bioinformatics offers computing and programming solutions to research groups, including most of the common workflows for data analysis, such as genome assembly, differential expression analysis, variant calling, and more.

Core Facility Bioactive Molecules: Screening and Analysis

The Core Facility provides high throughput microbiology screening ressources and high-end mass spectrometry for small molecule as well as for polymer science.
