For Cotutelle-Doctoral Studies, the student has both a supervisor at BOKU as well as at another foreign university. Upon completion of the studies, the doctoral students get a degree of both institutions – Cotutelle thus replaces the “nostrification” of the degree in the other country.
Usually, the initiative for a Cotutelle-Study program comes from the supervisors or the doctoral student.
As soon as the details for the planned research project are agreed upon, a taylor-made Cotutelle-agreement between BOKU and the foreign university is signed.
For this purpose, the following details have to be sent to the head of BOKU-International Relations
- a) Name, Institute’s address and e-mail of both supervisors
- b) Planned mobility scheme for the doctoral studies (which semester is spent where - a minimum stay of 12 months has to be spent at BOKU)
- c) Place of the final viva-voce exam
- d) Title of the thesis
- e) Contact person for agreement negotiations at the foreign university
