Introduction to business process analysis and business process improvement with a focus on business process reengineering.

Introduction to business process modeling in the Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN)

In-depth software support using the business process management tool BEE-UP/ADONIS for visualizing the process and organizational structure and simulating processes

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

1. Students are able to describe the strategic tasks of production management, recognize their importance and are able to implement them.
2. Students are able to independently compile relevant literature (Hammer & Champy, Rosenkranz, Wagner & Lindner) and to present and interpret the contents on the basis of working materials (theoretical control questions, practical case studies).
3. Students are able to transfer theoretical concepts of business process management to practical application cases (case studies), apply research methods and analyze and evaluate alternative solutions.
4. Students are able to present, discuss and negotiate gained knowledge and results in a moderated way.
5. Students are able to apply (software-based) tools (e.g. BEE-UP/ADONIS for business process modeling) in order to support management decisions in a well-founded manner through quantitative analyses.
6. Students are able to analyze, model and redesign business processes (= reengineering).
7. Students understand the importance of independent, lifelong learning, equality, sustainability, respect and constructive discourse and live them proactively.
