Content

The module focuses on social responsibility, inclusion, and mutual support. Students gain insights into the challenges faced by people with disabilities or other impairments in everyday life and, in particular, in the university setting. The focus is not only on theoretical knowledge but, above all, on practical experiences and concrete ways to provide support.
A special emphasis is placed on recognizing volunteer work. Students who are already involved in social volunteer work alongside their studies—for example, with emergency medical services, the fire department, social service organizations, or in environmental initiatives—can have this activity credited as the practical component of the course. The prerequisite for this is that the activity was carried out during the course of study and totaled at least 100 hours. In this way, the course sends a clear message that volunteer work makes an important contribution to society and should be more highly valued. Another key component of the course is the planned buddy system. Many students find everyday college life challenging—especially when additional physical or mental obstacles come into play. This is where dedicated students can step in to offer support. As a buddy, you can help with organizational questions, administrative procedures, or social challenges related to college life, thereby contributing to a more inclusive college experience.
Another opportunity is to collaborate on the development of concepts for inclusive learning within the framework of the Club Bachelor’s program.

Students describe key challenges that people with disabilities face in everyday university life and contextualize the relevant legal and organizational frameworks.
As buddies, students independently support fellow students with administrative, organizational, and social issues, applying appropriate communication and boundary-setting strategies.
