Courses are units of instruction in the context of a degree programme taught at a university.

The course instructor must inform the students at the start of the semester about the aims, contents and assessment method of the course in addition to the examination contents, methods and criteria.

Upon approval of the Vice-Rector for Education and Internationalization the course instructors may choose to teach the course in only part of the semester, while increasing the number of hours taught per week ("blocked course"). A blocked format must be approved if the necessary facilities are available, unless there are justified reasons against such a format.

The scope of the course must be given in ECTS credits and weekly semester hours. A weekly semester hour equals a certain number of course units, in relation to the weeks of instruction in a given semester. A course unit comprises 45 minutes.
