Courses

Courses are units of instruction in the context of a degree programme taught at a university.

Before the beginning of each semester, the course instructors shall inform the students in an appropriate manner about the objectives, form, contents, dates and methods of their courses as well as about the contents, form, methods, dates, assessment criteria and assessment standards of the examinations.

Upon approval of the Vice Rector for Teaching, Continuing Education and Students the course instructors may choose to teach the course in only part of the semester, while increasing the number of hours taught per week ("blocked course"). A blocked format must be approved if the necessary facilities are available, unless there are justified reasons against such a format.

The scope of the course must be given in ECTS credits and weekly semester hours. A weekly semester hour equals a certain number of course units, in relation to the weeks of instruction in a given semester. A course unit comprises 45 minutes.
