Radiation modelling
Solar short wave and longwave emitted radiation are, in all scales, two predominant components of the radiation balance of our climate system. In addition, fFor many research questions some information about the spectral composition of the radiation is essential. When no measurements are available or for research questions dealing with future or possible scenarios the only possible way is the determination of the radiation fluxes using radiation models. Well known one dimensional models are available, these models take into account the vertical profileof air density and temperature and of the atmospheric gas and aerosol concentration in the atmosphere. In complex non homogeneous environments such as in mountainous regions or under partly cloudy conditions more complex three dimensional models need to be used.
