European countries have quite different positions on the civil use of nuclear energy. In contrast to countries such as Poland, which is entering the nuclear energy market for the first time, and France, which is expanding or modernising its existing plants, Germany, on the other hand, has withdrawn from the use of nuclear energy. This year's Nuclear Symposium will focus on current developments in various European countries such as Austria's neighbours, Scandinavia, the Benelux countries, Italy and Spain, all of which are somewhere in between these extremes.
