14. BOKU CAS Autumn Congress
The current agricultural and food systems fulfill a variety of functions, but face considerable ecological, economic and social challenges due to their contribution to exceeding planetary boundaries. Their sustainable design requires a fundamental transformation.
Livestock sciences have a central role to play here against the backdrop of increasing social demands with regard to animal welfare and climate-friendly and sustainable forms of production. Ideally with the involvement of non-scientific stakeholders, they create the basis for sustainability-oriented change processes.
This year's fall conference of the Center for Agricultural Sciences is therefore dedicated to the contribution of BOKU's livestock sciences to sustainable agricultural and food systems. Based on a system-oriented view of the framework conditions, central, practice-relevant research topics from the fields of animal breeding, animal welfare sciences and animal nutrition will be presented.
