BOKU Sustainability Strategy

The BOKU Sustainability Strategy includes measures in research, teaching, university management, and knowledge exchange. BOKU members from different units are involved.

BOKU Sustainability Day

The BOKU Sustainability Day takes place every spring with a different focus. The day provides a stage for people, projects, initiatives and activities who are committed to more sustainability at the BOKU in the areas of research, teaching, green campus and society. Inspired visitors, exciting discussions, new ideas, a good atmosphere and enjoyment of the topic are the goals and fruits of the joint work.

Sustainability Award "LIGHT OF THE FUTURE"

The BOKU internal sustainability award "LIGHT OF THE FUTURE" has been honoring exemplary "good practice" sustainability initiatives in various categories every year since 2015. Students and employees at BOKU can submit their projects.

BOKU Sustainability Report

In view of the global challenges, the BOKU is accelerating its sustainability activities with the aim of making an active contribution to sustainable development. After the BOKU sustainability strategy was processed in a broad process in 2019, we are now taking another important steps: the BOKU Sustainability Report.

Alliance of Sustainable Universities in Austria

The exchange of experience, the use of synergies and joint sustainability projects are at the center of the Alliance of Sustainable Universities in Austria. As the “University of Life”, BOKU takes on a leading role in the alliance and provides the coordinating function at the gW / N.

Sustainable Entrepreneurship

Courses (also in cooperation with WU, TU and Uni Vienna) support students in setting up their own initiatives, associations and start-ups. Further consulting services are provided in the context of mentoring, start-up events at BOKU and the provision of networks.

Sustainicum Collection

The Sustainicum Collection is a platform open to all lecturers from all universities with content and materials to make terms, processes and connections from the field of sustainability come alive. With the help of innovative forms of teaching, systemic and holistic thinking is to be promoted among students in all fields of study.

Interne Nachhaltigkeitskommunikation

The gW/N informs BOKU employees and students about current sustainability activities at and around BOKU via a quarterly newsletter, regular articles in BOKU magazine, on the BOKU sustainability website and via social media.
