WWTF Open Stipendium: ME/CFS Call 2026 – Fellowships
This call is directed at early career researchers in Vienna, who want to conduct a six-month research stay at a research organization (in Vienna or abroad). Mobility is mandatory, it is not a local fellowship!
The topic of the call is ME/CFS. Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) is a complex and poorly understood chronic disease. The programme provides a stipend for fellows to learn new methods and techniques in renowned laboratories in Vienna or abroad, to advance the understanding of post-acute infectious diseases such as ME/CFS
The fellowship should help young researchers forge and strengthen international connections early in their career. The duration is fixed to six months, and the project if accepted must start at latest in June 2026.
Eligible are:
- early career researchers starting at a PhD level
- be currently based in Vienna and seek to conduct a stay outside Austria, or
- be outside Austria and seek to conduct a stay in a Viennese organization
- the government of NÖ will fund additionally two positions. Meaning that the researchers can also come move from/be hosted in Lower Austria (instead of Vienna).
Eligible costs are:
- Each fellowship can be up to 40,000 Euro
- It can cover personal and non-personal costs
- But with a maximum of 30 % of non-personal costs
