WWTF Empirical Social Sciences: Resilience & Crises
This call invites researchers to submit proposals for exploratory, interdisciplinary research projects that advance the conceptualization of resilience in relation to selected crises - primarily regarding their societal dimensions. The project must be led by a social scientist. Projects should initiate structured collaboration with other scientific disciplines and with relevant practitioner communities and employ methodological approaches capable of anticipating potential future crises.
Who can apply:
A core research team of up to three PIs, with at least the coordinator being based in Vienna. Other PIs outside Vienna may receive a max of 20% of the total budget.
Eligible costs are:
- The funding range for first stage “exploratory project” is 50,000 to 100,000 Euro per project. Joint Projects involving NÖ may request more funding.
- The project duration is from 12 to 18 months.
- It can cover personal and non-personal costs.
- But with a maximum of 50% of non-personal costs
This is a two-phase funding call, with the deadline for submitting the first proposals “exploratory project” on June 17, 2026, at 2 pm.
After the completing of the funded projects from the first phase, a further “larger” project can then be submitted.
The projects are submitted online, via the WWTF Funding Portal.
