GCUA 2030 Award: Global Challenges University Alliance
This award is a great opportunity for PhD-students or recently graduated PhD-students to communicate their research to a broad audience globally.
GCUA 2030 is a network of university partners from across the globe, representing different disciplines and with a key objective to equip the next generation of researchers, teachers and academic leaders with knowledge, tools and networks that will strengthen their capacity to work across disciplines and conduct translational research.
The award’s prize sum is 3,500 Euro for the winner, 1,000 Euro for the second place and 500 Euro for third place. The prize sum will go via each institution and be part of the laureates’ research funding. The prize winners will also be given the opportunity to present their research in a GCUA 2030 webinar.
Eligible candidates are PhD students or those who defended their thesis in 2025 or is about to do so in 2026 at one of the GCUA 2030 member universities. BOKU can nominate up to three candidates for the prize.
PhD supervisors are encouraged to motivate and support their students whose research contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to apply for this award.
