German Language & Themes Training 2025

The German Language & Themes Training offers German courses from level A1 to B1, theatre seminars as well as courses with focus on sustainability in universities. 

The German courses are a perfect preparation for both work and daily life, they offer a fun and engaging way to boost communication and connect with colleagues. The seminar “Theatre as a pedagogical resource” utilizes actor training to enhance emotional intelligence, empathy and self-awareness, enriching your teaching and leadership skills in a fun and supportive atmosphere. The course “Embedding Sustainability in Universities” enables participants to gain practical skills in energy management, sustainable mobility and eco-friendly practices through interactive workshops and insights from leading European universities. Furthermore, social and cultural activities in and around Freiburg as well as half-day trips into the region are offered.

Defying Gravity – Elevating International Cooperation in Teaching and Learning

In this staff training the complexity of global education will be navigated, and ways to overcome barriers will be explored in order to create international teaching and learning opportunities for both students and staff.
Through collaboration, innovation, and the strategic use of administrative tools, impactful international learning and teaching opportunities will be set up, with efforts made to reduce bureaucratic hurdles.

Target Group: Whether you work in the international relations office or in teaching departments, whether you support faculty in creating international teaching and learning opportunities, assist chairs and faculty members in establishing and maintaining international partnerships, navigating administrative processes, and overcoming bureaucratic challenges, or whether you are a member of faculty developing and implementing teaching and learning co-operations – you are warmly invited to join this upcoming staff week.

Paving the way for an equitable and sustainable future in international higher education

The Staff Week offered ample opportunity to examine and discuss different topics under the umbrella of “sustainable mobility” that our institutions are currently tackling. Furthermore, new cooperations were fostered and existing relationships deepened. International Relations colleagues from partner institutions and those interested in establishing future cooperation became more familiar with the University of Freiburg as well as the beautiful city and region it is a part of.
