Tom Plant is Senior Policy Advisor at the Colorado-based Center for the New Energy Economy. He previously served as a state legislator in Colorado (1999-2007) and as the Energy Secretary for the state under Governor Bill Ritter (2007-2011).

Tom Plant’s talk will focus on the upcoming United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 21). Leading up to COP 21, the Obama Administration has announced an aggressive commitment on the part of the United States to reduce greenhouse gases as well as a unique agreement on greenhouse gas reductions with China.  Tom will also discuss the central role of U.S. states in moving toward a low carbon future for the U.S., technological developments necessary to advance a clean energy future, and trends in U.S. environmental policy.
