APPEAR: Reports of past events
The workshop on 10 September 2024 at BOKU University created a space for dialogue on international research projects, focusing on the challenges faced and highlighting successful strategies implemented in these initiatives. Based on insights from the APPEAR programme participants engaged in discussions around factors influencing both the process and impact of projects, addressing a range of issues that can complicate their implementation. In the concluding session participants shared and discussed creative solutions.
- APPEAR in practice report - Sustainable future for the Vjosa River in Albania
On 4 December 2024 the core team of the APPEAR project VjoSusDev visited the OeAD to provide a comprehensive presentation of their research activities on the Vjosa river in Albania. The Vjosa river, Europe’s first wild river national park, is being extensively studied under the APPEAR project to analyze its hydrology, biodiversity, and water quality. The findings highlight the need for environmental protection measures and will provide a basis for sustainable river management.
- Workshop: Equitable North-South Partnerships in Higher Education
Challenges, Lessons of Experience and Ways Forward. The workshop, which took place on 7 November 2024 at the Centre for International Development, discussed the experiences of Austrian and international actors involved in North-South and South-South cooperation projects in higher education. It aimed at improving the understanding of change processes induced by such projects over time, their impact mechanisms and implications at the implementation and policy levels.
