AMUTI - Governance of natural resources in refugee-host communities
Over the past year, the AMUTI project has made remarkable progress in strengthening research capacity, enhancing institutional collaboration, and deepening community engagement between Austrian and Ugandan partners. AMUTI brings together Muni University, BOKU University and PALM Corps to advance transdisciplinary research and co-creation of knowledge in refugee and host community settings. A key milestone during this reporting period was the successful enrolment of the two APPEAR PhD scholars, Caroline Paparu and Jessiecah Alunyu Apili, into BOKU’s Graduate School.
Edu4GEO2 - Geomatics education in Ethiopia for supporting sustainable development
The second year of the project was characterised by the reopening of universities in the Amhara region following the outbreak of conflict. This enabled the launch of the Geomatics Master's programme. Courses were delivered using a team-teaching approach, with Austrian lecturers teaching online via Zoom and Ethiopian colleagues providing on-site support. Initial community services were provided for land administration experts and local farmers. Equipment for DMU and BDU teaching and learning activities has been ordered and will be used in future.
