Dear students!

Due to the SARS-CoV2 pandemic we try to prevent infection and to trace contacts as good as possible. If it is then possible, I will start the lecture on October, 7th 10:15 in the seminar room (MUG1-05/08).

You may attend in person or via Zoom. However, for good and reliable planning it is important to know how many of you will be coming to the seminar room.
We will set up a registration tool in BOKUlearn for this purpose. We kindly ask you to choose a type of participation (presence or Zoom) and then register there. (The BOKUlearn course is usually available 24 hours after your registration in BOKUonline.) We would like to urge you to stick to your registration during my part of the course so that we can make the best use of the limited number of places in the seminar room.

If you have any organisational questions, please contact my colleague Christine Prenner (christine.prenner@boku.ac.at)

Kind regards
Renate Kunert

recombinant proteins and biologics in human therapy: function, production and critical quality attributes

Coagulation factors, thrombolytic and fibrinolytic factors
Enzymes and hormones
Interleukines and Cytokines
Production of monoclonal antibodies, chimerization and humanization
Clinical applications of monoclonal antibodies
Production of recombinant antibody derivatives
Antibody mimetics

Inhaltliche Voraussetzungen (erwartete Kenntnisse)

students should have passed already the examination cell factories but at least need knowledge about generation of recombinant cell lines and propagation of cell culture

After having passed the course the students are able
- to transform their scientific knowledge for the development of biological therapeutics
- to assess development strategies and critically evaluate the quality demands of products
- to rank the scale of the production effort for up-stream, down stream and formulation procedures
- to explain data gained by in vitro studies and propose the products behaviour in vivo.
