COVID-19 infos: the seminar is planned as presence course under the current conditions. If stricter regulations arise during autumn we are flexible to switch into online-mode. Due to the relativ small number of participants there would be no disadvantages.
This seminar provides the possibility of a last 'test area' for the students to develop an analytical framework, to test methodical approaches, and to focus on certain aspects in front of their master thesis. A self-organised and self-reliant work on the seminar topic is of particular importance.
The students should apply their existing background knowledge on riverine ecosystems and environmental impacts gained from preceding lectures.
The seminar work is performed in small groups focusing on specific topics of environmental impacts. Following environmental impacts are addressed (the topics are adapted and may vary): impacts of hydro power, thermal regimes, multi-pressure impacts.
- Inhaltliche Voraussetzungen (erwartete Kenntnisse)
Basic knowledge on environmental and ecological processes in riverine ecosystems
Basic skills of analytical tools, e.g. statistical analyses, GIS
VO Human impacts
After successful completion of this seminar, participants are able to:
•Develop an analytical framework as the basis for analyses
•Review methodological approaches and the state of the art knowledge
•Apply methods for quantitative and qualitative data analyses
•Assess the effects of environmental impacts on fish and benthic invertebrates
•Present, discuss and defend own investigation results based on case studies
