Common agricultural policy reform and agricultural, rural, and environmental policies –– theory and applications, Political Economy of Common Agricultural Policy – theory and applications, Food Security – theory and empirical estimation, Food Supply Chains – price transmission, unfair trading practices, producers’ organizations – theory and estimations. Productivity and subsidies – theory, applications, and estimations. Bioeconomy – theory and measurement.

Upon successful completion of the course students will be able to understand economic and political reasons behind government involvement in agriculture and evaluate effects of key agricultural policies at national and EU levels on competitiveness, distribution of income, on environment and rural development. Students will learn about newest trends in development of food supply chains and consumer demands and how these trends affect stakeholders. Graduates of the course will learn both theories and empirical methods to quantify effects of exogenous changes and environmental, agricultural, and rural policies. The course will help students to follow discussions on common agricultural and rural development policies.
