Lehrinhalt

This course is about the presentation of organic and regional products in supermarkets, guided by the question, how far organic and regional is differentiated, accessible, advertised differently…

The course consists of two parts and a synthesis:

(1) Discourses on the presentation of organic and regional products in supermarkets, including an introduction
into discourse methodology (you write an own example)
(2) Cases studies in supermarkets, where we analyse by observations and informal communication with the
employees about the presentation of organic and regional products (two students share the analysis of one
supermarket and the report (using a template))
(3) Synthesis of the findings (conclusion will be done in the final presentation in a group and plenary
discussion)

Inhaltliche Voraussetzungen (erwartete Kenntnisse)

Basic knowledge in organic agriculture is an advantage

Lehrziel

•to do a science piece in one month in an interactive manner between students and
students and supermarkets stuff
•to equip the students with methodologies and theoretical concepts and tools to
critically analyze the public debates about organic farming and
•to inform about the current public debates about organic farming.
