(Zoom) seminar on the development, application and role of bio-analytical chemistry in the areas food safety, biology and environment. Current methods (e.g. mass spectrometry based metabolomics), principles, procedures including quality assurance will be discussed. Guest speakers such as Prof. Chris Elliott from the Institute for Global Food Security in Belfast will also present interesting lectures on the subject of food fraud.

The student knows about current trends in the field of (bio-)analytical chemistry and is able to present current scientific work at international conference level. The students are able to understand the topics of food safety, environment and biology, incl. e.g. plant-microbe interaction, in an interdisciplinary context.
