Inhaltlich schliesst sich die Thematik an die Systembiologie an, von der die Datengrundlagen und Erkenntnisse stammen, die für die synthetische Biologie verwendet werden. Begriffe, wie engineering of life, artificial life, artificial genome, werden eingeführt und beleuchtet. Die Ergebnisse werden mit Beispielen der aktuellen (englischsprachigen) Literatur in Beziehung gesetzt und diskutiert.
We like to initiate a discussion and background which is knowledge - driven for the students to understand and coin the term of synthetic biology. Connections to the present field of biotechnology, similarities, origin and future ideas are to be presented and discussed in order to initiate understanding of the field and catching opportunities in the curricula in joining the research activities present in this field.

Our lecture transmitts the ability to reflect and coin topics in synthetic biology. Connections to the present field of biotechnology, similarities, origin and future ideas will be presented and discussed in order to initiate and enable understanding the ost relevant definitions of the field "synthetic Biology" and therefore are able to catch future opportunities in joining the research activities in this field.
