Dear Students,
each year the Seminar in Biotechnology will focus on a different subject in an emerging field in biotechnology; in 2024 our subject is Prevention of zoonoses and antimicrobial resistance: vaccines and pandemic preparedness, as fostered by the One Health mission. We envision an integral, collaborative approach, including several fields (colours) of biotechnology. We hope you can relate to the interpretation and communication of one or of several of these!

The topcis for the presentation will be presented and distributed among registered students during the introductory meeting (March 4th, 11h, per zoom: https://bokuvienna.zoom.us/j/62801063564?pwd=Y3M2bEFFTjFOU2RSSWNXNFdxNVlOZz09). Students are expected to prepare a 15 min presentation of the chosen topic and actively participate in dicussions and in providing feedback to their colleauges (May 17th, from 9 AM, in person, Seminar room 05/08, or 51, at the DBT 5th floor).
Inhaltliche Voraussetzungen (erwartete Kenntnisse)

Completed baccalaureate degree.
Basic understanding of biotechnology.

The students who will succesfully complete this course will be able to:
- describe, compare and correlate the advances in a specific emerging field of biotechnology.
- summarize, critically evaluate and present a scientific publication in a short and concise way to a broader audience.
- demonstrate presentation skills, participate in scientific discussions and respectfully provide feedback to colleagues.
